ALICE FALORETTI

Alice Faloretti’s abstracted landscapes transport the viewer into a post-human realm, where spaces shift from one to the next in a continual expansion. Utilising both digital manipulations, the artist’s hand, and chance, Faloretti begins on a spirit-soaked canvas and allows the paint to take its course before digitally embedding personal imagery into her landscapes. Remaining in constant dialogue with the painting and the material the artist adapts as the landscapes spread. The fluidity of the paint is disrupted by borders activated within the work; at once connecting and disconnecting spaces as they mark the transition from one environment to another. Small pockets of stillness invoke moments of calm, and the personal quality of the imagery used creates an uncanny tension between the known and unknown. Underlying is a long-forgotten human presence, as these borders reference the structure of buildings. The unnatural quality is exacerbated as colour dances between cold and warm.
